An Increase In Saturation

_____I couldn't choose between a lot of these pictures because for some reason, I didn't look like a total square in all of them. That's funny, because I'm usually quite the square. Maybe my watching America's Next Top Model yesterday for the first time in about a century made me learn a few things. I probably got some inspiration from dem aspiring model ladies. Got that fierce Tyra within me to come out. Yep. I think they were posing on some camels. I'd love to pose on a camel some day, but unfortunately, Alabama doesn't seem have many of those. Nope, we've just got armadillos and squirrels down here.

_____These shoes are kind of amazing. They're by Palladium, and ever since I saw opiumpoppies wearing them, I could not stop thinking about their highlighter-y fabulousness. Plus, they are super comfy and pretty dang neat looking. They were a fine investment and resulted in a few double-takes from people. I am unsure whether those double-takes were good or bad, but it matters not!

_____Anyway, one more week for me (exam week!) and I will be done with my freshman year of college. How very exciting! I do hope I am prepared for these exams. We shall see. That being said, I leave you to yourselves, my citizens.

As The End Draws Near...

______I don't have much for you this week, my dear citizens. I've decided to get a head start on studying this weekend since my exams happen to fall around the same day, which obviously equals a suuuuper fun time for me!

______Not really, no.

______The next two weeks will most likely be brutal and filled with much pain and suffering. If you don't hear from me next week, no worries--I wasn't attacked by an army of blood-thirsty mosquitoes, consumed by an ancient water-breathing dragon, or turned into stone after exchanging looks with Medusa; I will have merely locked myself in isolation.  Thankfully, after those two weeks, I shall be able to taste the sweet ambrosia that is summertime.  In the meantime, here are two doodles I did for a sketchbook assignment the other week. Nothing special, but they were fun! Our assignment was to draw the way that a song "felt," which was actually quite the entertaining process. I might be doodling some more of these song-y feel-y things in the future, but on a much larger scale.

Little Red Riding Boots

______My mom and I take most of my outfit pictures at this visually pleasing elementary school that's located in a small town five minutes away from our house. Today, this said town was bustling with activity since there was a Spring Festival type event taking place. A sea of tents flooded the town square's streets, filled with goods made by local artisans. There were jewelry makers, wood carvers, fudge sellers, baked good makers, and booths filled with everything in between. Some of the things being sold were silly (Auburn and Alabama football themed tutus, anyone?), while others were super neat and original. It's so amazing that such a quaint little town can become so alive and crowded almost overnight!

_____There were three booths that really stuck out to me. The first was a lady who made earrings, necklaces, and cuffs from vintage brooches and old glass pieces; I would have bought something from her, but I just can't justify buying a $38 pair of earrings in my head, even if it means  supporting a local artist. The second was a guy who made jewelry from old watch parts and bullet casings; again, the prices were what stopped me from making a purchase.

_____The final booth was staffed by a guy and his wife who were selling old matchbox cars and then these slightly larger model cars. I initially approached this booth wanting to buy my older brother a Jeep matchbox car, but upon asking learned that there were none; however, I asked if they had any Volkswagen beetle bugs, and lo and behold, they had three vintage Volkswagens models. Two had some rather boisterous looking hippie flowers on their sides, but the third was a classy looking red one. That one caught my eye, probably because it gleamed in the sun like a darling little candy apple. I asked how much it was and learned that it was only three dollars. Of course I'm going to buy a tiny wind-up bug for tres dolorés. The doors on it even open. Yeah. It's legit and adorable and I like it. Spontaneous purchases are the best.

______Here is little redbug sitting ever so picture-perfectly on the steering wheel of the beetle bug that I am lucky enough to call my own and drive around in. It's my dream car and I'm totally living the American dream because of it. Hope your weekend is going just swell, lovely readers!

Beat It

______This post feels so incomplete to me, but I'm putting it up anyway because I must must must meet my measly one-post-per-week quota. About three-fourths of the way through taking pictures, Sir Lancelot the camera met the ill fate of running out of battery juice, even though he began with half his bars full (my apologizes, I refer to my camera as if it is a human being sometimes); thus, there are no accessory detail shots. I am going to try to get those up later in the week, though. Sir Lancelot, thou hath lied to me! On top of that, I forgot to bring my tripod, and mother dearest and I had to use a traffic cone instead (innovative thinking on her behalf!). Oh, and then the big bag of spinach that I usually buy at the grocery store every week was missing and I had to settle for the two smaller bags of (what I believe is) less delicious spinach with tinier leaves. Talk about a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.

______...Okay, so the spinach thing wasn't that traumatizing, but hey--imagine having to settle for crunchy peanut butter when you're so used to having creamy peanut butter all the time... or something. It's a little bit different and weird, yeah?

______Not being able to finish things kind of frustrates me more than it should. It's a bad quality of mine to get so frustrated over even the littlest of things and I know it. I just really don't like it when things don't go as planned or have to be postponed or moved from their schedule. It makes me extremely uncomfortable. I like having control over things that I usually have control over. I really like making lists and checking thing off lists and sometimes even putting things on a list just so I can cross it off and feel accomplished. I'm obsessive and I know it.

______But I guess not everything can be perfect, and not all priorities can be prioritized. Ah, well. Anyway, this week, my two classes on Friday are cancelled, so I'm hoping to be able to stop by the craft store and make some DIYs that have been lying in wait in my bookmarks. Until the next post, fine citizens.

______Are you a "list-making" type of person? Or are you better at just letting things happen as they do?

Pastel Royale

______I'm not even gonna lie, I've been keeping a tab open for this post and have been on and off it for quite some time, but have been unable to find a single decent thing to write about--or even a half-decent thing at that. So instead of rambling on about how on my bike ride today I saw a turtle that looked like Bowser, I'm just going to post this as it is and wait until next week to write something deep and introspective about life and its many interesting facets. I'm sure I'll think of something cool by then. Yep.

______That being said, I bestow upon you grand citizens pictures of me in a poofy pastel princess pirate-sleeved blouse and my first ever pair of blog-pictured jean shorts. Godspeed, citizenos.
