______Hidy-ho, lovelies! Today, I'm guest blogging over at Jen's lovely blog, so put on your party pants and head on over if you'd like, or keep reading on!
I bought this adorable military style trench coat a few weeks ago at TJ Maxx. I was quite wary of doing so because of the price tag and the fact that I live in Alabama, land where it doesn’t get super cold, but after getting some wear out of it recently, I’m really glad I went through with the purchase. It cost $100 (down from $180), which isn’t too terribly much, but still quite a bit of money for a single item. However, it’s amazing quality and I know that the purchase was worthwhile because coats never seem to fit me right. They’re always too small in the arms because of my wide shoulders and too big in the waist, but once I put this one on and it was both cute AND fit perfectly, I knew that I really had no choice but to buy it.
I mean, it even makes me look like a secret agent or something. Doesn’t it? Just call me 007. I’ll be sneakin’ in yer windows in this thing, except not really because heels don’t really allow that. Unless you’re a real secret agent, then you’ve probably been trained to do that kind of stuff. But I’m not a secret agent. I’m just Ali.
What are
you all willing to splurge on? For me,
it’s items that I know will last me a long time, such as practical leather
shoes and classic pieces such as this coat.
Even though it hurts to suddenly kiss your moolah goodbye, in the end, I
know it’s a good investment.
Military trenchcoat: Guess (via TJ Maxx)
Heels: man these are old so who knows really
Chevron earrings: Charming Charlie

Loved this post both on your blog and on Jen's. You look stunning.
SO cute! I love that jacket and it does fit you perfectly! Good thing you bought it. :) I splurge on shoes. It's hard to find size 4's. The only brands that make them are expensive, so it's a splurge.
Killer outfit, you look fatal Ali ;) How was Christmas dress-ups? :D
You can't go wrong with a beautiful coat like that - even if you only wear it a few times a year, i'm sure you'll keep it forever.
Love the ruffle!!
Chic on the Cheap

hehe you do look like a secret agent! But a super cool and stylish one :) The coat looks wonderful on you and I really like the button details and the ruffle. It seems like a really good investment piece. I usually splurge on jackets/blazers since I want those to last a really long time.
I think I'd experience physical pain in handing over that much for one item. Haha, but I've done it before, and you're so right - its worth the investment! And you are looking spylicious in this amazing trench Ali. :)
For me, its all about jeans. When denim fits me right, its a miracle, so I'm willing to spend extra on it.
Trendy Teal

You could definitely be an agent in this coat, an amazingly chic agent!! This coat looks gorgeous on you and its very worth the investment. Like you say, it will never go out of style.
I personally don't usually spend a lot of money on just one piece. But every now and then I will splurge when it comes to an item that I know will never go out of style.

Guess definitely has some amazing outerwear pieces but like you already said, their prices are a bit salty. I have bought two warm jackets though and both have lasted beautifully so the money was spent well :P
anyway, I actually wanted to say I love your new coat and it looks especially classy together with those heels!

I will spend a lot on an item I love and will wear forever. I have dresses from Anthropologie that cost 100+ or whatever that I have been wearing for 2 or 3 years straight. And I LOVE this coat - it really is beautiful - the buttons are lovely. Coats are a good splurge since they last forever

You're the coolest. LOVE that trench. It was totally worth it since you look so fabulous. And DANG GIRL guest posting for Jen? She's fabulous, too, like you so i guess that works out! :)
What do I splurge on? Shoes. Never ever do I splurge on clothes, it's really weird. Like I don't think I've ever spent more than $40 on one piece of clothing. Wow thats so weird to think about but it's really true! I mean not counting gifts or stuff I've been given thru blogging lol.
But shoes...mmm i will spend 100 bucks for a nice pair of leather boots or flats. I don't splurge on heels, those I always buy on sale, but boots are my biggest splurges. As you can see from my blog the past three days lol. Except I got those on sale but still.
XO
