Life as Plastic, It's Fantastic

Today, I challenged myself to NOT WEAR ANY BLACK AT ALL, OH NO END OF THE UNIVERSE. Even more intense, I'm wearing pink. Not pastel pink, not a peachy pink, but a bright Barbie pink. Hot pink. Does this skirt not scream, "I'm a Barbie girl, in a Barbie wooooorld?" I'm sorry if that song gets stuck in your head. I think I bought pinky because it was three dollars at the thrift store. Unfortunately, at said thrift store, there were no dressing rooms and you just had to buy by size. I bought this by my size, but when I got home, it was just a tad too tight. Me and my mom might install (for lack of a better word?) some fabric in the sides of it. Either way, it was awesome, even if I had to breath upward instead of outward like a normal person. Have you ever breathed with your chest instead of your stomach? Try it. Either way, this Barbie skirt was most fantabulous for the twenty minutes I was able to stand it.

So yesterday, whilst at my pool job, I noticed this rather large bee. I'm talking huge. The size of my thumb. You could hear him buzz from meters away. I was rather scared of him. I was watching this bee and it appeared that he was trying to sting himself. Beside him sat another big bee, but this one was belly-up and clearly not alive. I started to think that maybe these bees pulled a Romeo and Juliet, and perhaps Rombeeo did not get to Julibee late enough. So there I watched Rombeeo, my eyes welling up with tears, as he stung himself. He made no more movements. O, happy stinger. Perhaps it was just the heat that ended his yellow and black life, or he was most likely just sleeping, but still, I like to think they were doing a one time only Shakespearean play for their fellow insect friends.

That's so sad about the bees!

Also, your skirt looks awesome!

Hello lovely. Absolutely adore the necklace. :) The shoes, as well. I'm on the hunt for a comfortable pair of nonflats, so shoes are basically the first thing I'm noticing about outfits nowadays.

Aww I just read your comment. <33
You are just adorable!

And that bee story as so sweet/tragic! I saw something similar with a squirrel down at my university. It wasn't as epic, however, since it wasn't a squirrel he jumped to save but rather some french fries on the floor. Luckily, he survived, fries in tact, just a bit shaken up. Anyhow, keep on blogging-- your outfits give me such inspiration:)

There are so many things I love about this outfit! The bright pink with the polka dots is just so fun :)
Also, your Shakespearean bee story is probably the best thing I've heard all day. Seriously

I love the barbie skirt, and you should challenge yourself to not wear black more often, because color is grand.

Ali, you look gorgeous and I'm kind of hating on you for being able to pull off hot pink. I'm too scared to even touch that color! I can't get over how great these pictures look though. The setting is pretty fantastic. :)

I'm gonna go sing Barbie Girl now. <3

I hate thrift stores w/o dressing rooms! I usually end up buying no clothes because of that...but what I don't buy in clothes I make up for with china. Ha!

my favorite has to be the necklace though.. im actually looking for comfy not flat shoes (although it is quite impossible.. i dont think there's any heels/wedges that'll replace flats!)

YAY!!! This might just be ONE OF MY FAVOURITE OUTFITS OF YOURS. The colours and the polka dots = AW YEAHHH. Oh pinky, you art thee so adorable. That's my touch of Shakespeare in the comment.

Speaking of which, I thoroughly enjoyed your story of Romeo and Juliet. I cried a little, not going to lie. (Actually... I'm lying. But still the PRINCIPLE'S THERE. You just captured the emotion and essence of the scene!)

Thanks so much for all your comments girrrrl!

my first time here and really and honestly this might be my new favorite blog. first of all i love your outfit. regardless if the skirt is a Barbie color, you look amazing in it and you styled it really well. i love polka dots. so the body suit works wonders for me. i love everything you have to say. the bee story made me giggle, but at the same time sad. anyways, i can't wait for posts to come. i'm excited..:)

ha ha about your bee story. That's pretty sad though.

Also, amazing skirt though it looks like you'd have to suck in your stomach to wear it and feel confidant...or maybe just I would have to suck in my stomach.

Nice blog

Anyway, I can see we both like polka dots. And who wouldn't! I also like pink a lot. I would totally wear this...if it weren't for the tightness. :((( JEALOUS.
