A Conversation With Myself

____I always get a bit uneasy before New Year's. Why? Because I start thinking about how the New Years is all about changing an aspect of your life in order to make yourself happier. But the thing is, I'm sort of already happy. Anything I've wanted to change I've already changed, and now the change must simply go through with it's changeliness. I don't know about you guys, but I'm really not one that's for this so-called "change" (*Republican ideology? I'm trying to keep this blog politically neutral, oopsdamn). Whether it be something simple like writing '11 on your paper when before you wrote '10, or something like when that funky facebook changes it's layout yet again and forces you under that omnipotent bridle of a new profile, change is just awkward and uncomfortable. And the fact that this particular change is untouchable except for a number doesn't help the transition of from what seems like the same thing to the same thing.

____But it is inevitable, this change. It haunts us like a prickly cactus does whilst we are strolling through the endless sand dunes of an ice cube, like a sad ghost who lost his ghostly pencil eraser that he needs so dearly since he is unable to utilize real pencil erasers, like the fluffy afro who was shaved from his owner's head and now wanders aimlessly through winding alleys cloaked beneath the darkness of night.

____Clearly what I'm getting at is that I am indeed terrible at this concept of change. I always have been, I always will be. For New Year's, my goal should be to accept change-- definitely, yeah! Let's all go out there and change ourselves, right here, right now! Right? No? You know, I'm good where I am. See? I did it again. I never stick to my resolutions and I think I do better just deciding on my own when something needs to be done. You think it would be the other way around since I'm your average A-type organizational list-maker. But I really do need to start posting more.

____So anyway, if you read all that, what are your resolutions? You serious ones, I mean. Not the ones about losing weight or becoming a better person. I'm talking about your plans to make Pluto a planet again or to have an intense staring contest with a fern. Okay, GO!

I get what you mean about change being hard. I usually am excited and gung ho about change when it comes and i'm like "ya ya ya" but then a bit later I'm suddenly like "where did the old thing go?" and then I'm devistatingly sad.

Helpful I know :)
Serious resolutions?
-drink more tea
-learn to cook with interesting grains
-get better at making pretty buns in my hair.

yup...inspired I know.
Happy new year late!

Happy new year my dear! :) Change can be pretty lame but can also be exciting, but I never really feel like the new year means that much as far as change. It's like you kind of expect it to be exciting and new, but then it's like wah wah... haha! I feel like this will be a good year though, or at least I hope it will be! :)

I'm about as resistant to change as they come, and yet some times I find myself wishing for it. Even though it is both hard and annoying.

I think my real resolution should be to makes the changes I want, ratherthan letting someone else make the choice.

I wanted to leave a lovely comment but I have to finish packing since I gotta leave for the airport in 8 minutes! Why did I procrastinate??

Just wanted to say you look absolutely beautiful. :) <3

I was still writing '09 on papers instead of '10 up until December. So yeah, I suck at change too!
Your dress is lovely, and I like it paired with the white tights!

for some reason I'm the type who is up for challenges and tries to take that change in my life as a positive thing, so I am odd and don't make resolutions since life is always changing and I am always trying out a new challenge to face or attack or whatever. Lovely detail design on this outfit of yours!

You are the funniest ever. Also, I love your dress and envy your ability to pull of white tights so well! I've always been afraid of them due to my pasty-ness.
I think embracing change is a great resolution to have, and probably one I should steal, er, borrow. This year I really want to just do and see more than in years past. Is that too vague?

I don't mess around with resolutions - too much trouble. I hate that whole "new year, new you!" stuff that magazines seem to push. What was wrong with the old me??! That being said, this year's me would like your dress. I'll take that for the new me!

AH YOU LOOK SO CUTE. Like one of those american dolls, or whatver they're called, but BETTER. And I love your tights. I don't own white tights, which is CUHRAZY. I definitely need some.

And I know what you mean; change is definitely frightening but, even more so, exciting. But I think New Year's is overrated - change occurs errrday.
