Everything's Greener After Rain

rain

______Earlier in the week, I was that pesky person in class who coughed every five minutes and who you wanted to throw spare pencils, pens, and nail clippers at. I wasn't sick, but I had a case of the throat tickles that would wake me up at haphazard hours of the night and force me to overdose on water and tea. Plus, the throat tickles were accompanied by a burlesque change in my voice--imagine Fran Drescher's voice after chain-smoking a few packs of cigarettes. Yep. That was my voice for four days. I would by lying if I said I didn't use it to its full potential to wig people out.

______That being said, I'm at least relieved that lately the weather has been dreary with smoggy grey skies--to me, it makes the days much quieter and easier to push your way through. Sunny days can seem too hectic oftentimes! I'm more at ease when the weather is melancholy.

______But then again, quieter days means peoplefolk can hear you coughing better and thus detest you a bit more. Win some, lose some.

______Plus, grey days bring out all those sneaky little creatures who usually hide in dark, damp places. Below, we have the elusive and patient Mr. Slug Buddy. He and his entourage of slimy friends were loafing all over these moss-encrusted rocks, probably scouring the area for ingredients for a meal they planned a fortnight ago. Ah, the unfortunate woes of slow locomotion (and also being a slug). I hope I didn't squish one with my butt or anything. That'd lay their dinner plans to rest for good.

______But not mine.

______I kid. I would never eat slugs, for they are friend. Just like all the other creepy crawlies we secretly adore.

hahaha...I don't think I would eat slugs but not because they are my friends...
One time I had a cough that didn't go away for 6 months in spite of doctors and medicines. Coughing isn't fun, but the fact that you interrupt and scare everyone with how contagious you sound is much worse.

Hi Ali, I know how agitating a sore throat can be, nothing can help it besides forcibly coughing. Have you tried a teaspoon of honey? These slugs have been menacing in my organic veg garden and eating up everything in sight. After the rain they seem to just multiply! Love this beautiful combination of burgundy and mustard, the skirt is adorable! Enjoy the start to spring!

I love reading your posts. They always make me giggle. I am sorry that you weren't feeling well, but I'm glad that you were in high spirits! It's always nice to hear good sides of the dreary weather. My best friend is like that--he kind of gets all bummer-y in the sunshine, but loves the grey days. I love your skirt and boots!

I hate sore throats/coughing fits! I've been dealing with the same thing lately and it can be miserable! At my part time job, any time I have a little coughing attack and a customer is near, they look at me like I have the black plague. I'm sorry! I covered my mouth!
Anyways, this color combo is just spectacular! I love the red and marigold together:) You are just so pretty, lady! I'm also loving the location and that cute little slug buddy!

It's awful to be that person coughing that everyone else hates, hope your throat and voice go back to normal soon!

Love your fun skirt and color mix, and still that ampersand ring!

Hahaha, ah man, being that person is the WORST! I hate it since I despise drawing attention to myself (despite what I'm wearing, believe it or not...lol), and having that tickling throat is so annoying. Hope it goes away soon!
There's something soothing about overcast days, huh? I'm going to miss them. Summer is quickly arriving here - we have beautiful sunny days, just filled with horrible blasts of wind.
Anyway, I am SO curious to see what your closet looks like - you always have the perfectly matching pieces to go with each other! The deep red sweater matches oh so wonderfully to your skirt, and then the dark red boots with yellow socks...the yellow necklace...the yellow in your skirt...just so perfectly matched and pretty to look at! *_*

NOOOOOOOOOOOO. I cannot handle bugs. I know, I know. That is so incredibly sissy of me but I cannot. I immediately want them gone. Not necessarily dead but but just out of the way. Anyway, if that is what you look like when you are sick....I give up. You are DARLING!

Bhaahhaa, I bet that slug would look fabulous with the golden ring! :D
Haha, your story reminds me of a grampa who was riding the bus the other day. I thought he would cough his lungs out and die right there, he was like a coughing machine :D

You look superb as always! This red outfit of yours is my favorite, so fiery and passionate! *_*

That is interesting because I am the person that can't stop coughing at the moment and for most of last week. It's getting really embarassing and frustrating at work! You are wearing the same colour as I am in my last post. You look gorgeous in that colour and I love the way you paired it with yellow. I didn't think of that, it looks super amazing.

I wouldn't eat a slug simply because they creep me out completely. :)

I hate when I have a cough - I have an equally deep cough that always gets looks. Short little girl, loud, man like cough. Always fun!

This skirt is always a fave of mine on you. It's some of my favorite colors all together.

I love there are different textures/patterns in this outfit yet it is all tied together with the red and yellow colors! :)

Ahhh hope your throat is feeling better! And woah that's such a nice picture of a slug. The ones I usually see are just gray :/

Hi Ali, I'm the person with that bad cough and deep voice right now. :) I really love this outfit, and I've always had a thing for snails. Slugs, not so much.

Erg, that's the worst! I have sore throats/coughs a lot as well working around kiddos all day long. I hate when I lose my voice and still have to teach because then none of the kids can hear me, haha.
My mom for years had a pesky cough that would never go away and they finally determined it was from acid reflux? So random.
Anyhoo, I hope you are feeling much better my flaxen haired darling!

I'm not much for slugs or slimy things, but I'm sure they are glad to know that you're a friend, and that photo makes me think better of them, for sure.

Each time you wear that skirt I admire it so! It is just the perfect swingy shape and design. You look as cool as a burgundy cucumber I must say.

The deep burgundy with the yellow is such a lovely pop of happiness during grey days. Those little throat tickles are sometimes the worst, I had a coughing attack once during a meeting. I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week.
You look gorgeous! /Madison :)
