Sunflowers and Olives + Persunmall

OlivesOlives

______I'm sure you've all heard of Persunmall--they're an online clothing retailer with an ogle-worthy selection of dresses, skirts, and accessories, plus all the fashion forward things that are in-between. I've seen quite a few of you fashion-blogging ladies don goodies from Persunmall, and each time, I'm pretty sure I went, "Oooh, ahhh," as my eyes sparkled brightly like the sun-struck tears of a small child. So when Pesunmall contacted me to receive a lovely something in exchange for a review, I jumped at the offer.

______After browsing through their extensive collection, giddy as a goat in a summery field of grass, I opted for this classy olive coat; it's sturdily-built with thick fabric that keeps me toasty during those crispy Alabama mornings. It fits just right, too! It might be a tad tight in the shoulders, but I keep my coats open at the top for the most part anyway since I flail my arms a lot in conversation. Thus, it's nothing to throw a fit over.

______I know that many people shy away from Asian-based companies due to the bite-sized fit, but I've not had a problem so far. If you're uneasy about ordering from overseas retailers, I suggest sizing up at least one size; check the length if it's a dress (anything over 85cm fits a taller gal!) as well your shoulder width if it's a long-sleeved something. Do that and you should be fine as Sunday wine.

______Oh. And pick a style you imagine will look good on you based on your past purchases. That always helps. If the lovely model looks a little awkward in it, you're probably gon' look like a bloated corpse, too.

______I'm taking an Honors Painting class this semester, and it's definitely the class I'm most ready to produce work in. In reality, there are no real Honors art classes, so I wrote up a contract and had my teacher and the Honors college approve it so I wouldn't have to take an additional 3-hour Honors seminar studying the judiciary system of sea sponges in Caribbean reefs. As interested as I am in sponge politics and their oscillating mechanics, I'm really not.

That is a lovely coat - I love the shape and contrasting sleeves. I know fit can be such a challenge with those companies and I've gotten plenty of things that were way too small, but it's always nice when something works out so well!

Ha, I feel the same when I get contacted by a site that I've loved seeing other bloggers style. Persunmall is great, and olive the olive jacket you picked out! (oh, puns everywhere haha). It's the perfect edgy touch to that pretty sunflower dress. And those cozy boots really top it off!

I definitely agree on your tips for Asian retailers--it's especially hard with the one-size option most of the time. Measurements really are key!

Haha, glad you got an honors art class instead of science that just doesn't interest you. I'm always inspired that you chose to pursue art in a society biased towards the hard sciences. I probably will follow suit with the humanities. Best of luck with your art and everything else, Ali!

I'm normally cautious about Persunmall and stores like it, but this coat seems to be made quite well and it looks expensive on you. I also love those yellow socks--what a great way to add some punch and match your dress. I just had to laugh at your supposed interest in sea sponges..

Haha, that's so awesome that you got an Honors Painting class approved! Way to be creative and go get it done. GET IT GURL!
Also, I'm personally very leery of Asian-based retailers. Persunmall contacted me before and I remember wanting to pick a coat from them but I was too worried it wouldn't fit my jumbo shoulders or arms. Aha, I'm happy with the tops I picked though :)
Anyway, this coat is SOOOO classy and chic Ali! I love it with the sunflower print dress. Adorable and quirky, just like you!
Also, I can definitely understand your perspective when it comes to friendships. I feel the same way a lot of the time. Mostly I prefer just doing my own thing and being a hermit. But every now and then it's nice to have someone to talk to and just watch movies/tv shows with. Aha, when you find someone who adds a witty commentary to a show you know you've found a good friend ;)
AND YES, LET'S GO EXPLORE GRAVEYARDS ONE DAAAAY!!! ^^ Hehe, we'd get along just grand, I know it!

Hhahaha, sponge politics sounds like something I would definitely hate :D

Congrats on the new coat, the color is amazeballs. Yes, we skinnies don't have problems with the asian sizing! Yay... I guess? :D

The sunflowers are so retro and pretty!

Hi Ali, I am one of those people who shy away form ding reviews, mostly because the shipping costs to SA are pretty extensive. I think you made a stellar choice with this elegant jacket, the fit is perfect on you and its a great piece to throw over almost anything. The painting class sounds like its going to be a thrilling experience, especially for someone who is as talented as you are.

This olive coat is AMAZING! I would wear it in a heartbeat! I love the way it fits you! Also, so jealous that you aren't even wearing tights. I'm currently wearing pajamas and drinking tea, looking out my window into a snowstormy-New York! Classes were even cancelled today due to the snow!!!! Meanwhile you are rocking a mini dress. So unfair!!!

Congratulations on your collab with Persunmall! The coat you chose will be perfect for sooo many outfits. Good choice! And can we talk about your legs for a second?! First of all, I'm jealous you can parade around bare-legged this time of year and second of all, how do you keep them so toned and slender? Give me your secrets! Haha

Hope you're having a lovely day,
Carly

So Ali- you are gorgeous. And this outfit is amazing, and you have one of the funnest every blogs to read.

:) It's true! I always love coming back here and reading your thoughtful and inspiring posts. Thanks for the advice on Asian ordering (I ordered a teapot dress from an Asian retail site and my order turned out great, too!) but you do have to keep some things in mind and be smart about your choices.

Anyway, looking fabulous as always and thumbs up for your ambition in cold weather! (haha, I got ambitious too, wearing a mid-riff baring crop top in my post haha!) Some things just can not wait for Spring!!

This is a gorgeous coat! I definitely always go a size or two up with those companies but I've learned to just wear the "dresses" as tunics, etc. and make it work for the most part! STay warm!

Ohh...a seminary on sea sponges sounds just grand! haha. Glad you opted for an art class instead, I'm sure some amazing things will come out of that!
That coat is awesome-I'm sure it would look so great with jeans too!
I just worked with an overseas company where things were one-size fits all and I was like, none of this is going to fit me, so I like that you gave sizing tips! They're so true!
Hope you're having a lovely day miss Ali :)

I love the coat on you, what an excellent choice. The colour is so unique and stylish and it looks well structured and good quality too. I've mostly had good experiences with asian based online retailers too. It's the sunflower print that stands out to me the most in your look. What a beautiful and striking print. I wish there was more sunflower print around. If I saw something with sun flower print I'd jump at the opportunity to buy it! Good luck with your courses this semester. I'm sure your incredible talent will show through and you'll do amazingly!

This coat is lovey, as is the dress. Actually, the dress is more than lovely. I want it for myself!

It's funny you should post this about the sizing, I just got a dress from Persunmall myself but it was so short! It's my latest post, if you want to check it out.
