A Caravan of Colors

______I think the main reason why I've never tried wearing a maxi dress before is because of its name and how similar it sounds to "maxi pad." I mean, surely someone else has made this connection. Surely someone else feels as uncomfortable as I do when they hear the word. Why, the last thing I think I could ever say to someone is, "Oh hey, I really like your maxi dress," because it would make me feel as if I was commenting on their personal feminine hygiene products rather than their attire. This is a normal thing to think, right? Right? Right.

______But I'm trying my best to grow out of that mindset and move on. In fact, I even believe that I've a newfound love for these ever so ridiculously named maxi dresses (though I'd much prefer to call them magical Grecian princess dresses because that's totally what this one makes me feel like). This is my first magical Grecian princess dress and I do believe that is has pushed me out of my comfort zone (in a good way!). I think this dress has made me more willing to try new styles in the future instead of always trying what I know works. Variety is the spice of life, yo.

______So, my good citizens, with that being said, I ask you this:

______Have you tried anything recently that you never thought you'd like but ended up loving (whether that be a type of clothing, a type of food, or a fine hobby such as underwater basket weaving)?

Dress: Wally-world (that's slang for Walmart, yo)
Gladiator sandals: Franco Sarto
Bracelet: Lulu*s
Necklace: Charlotte Russe
Earrings: Charming Charlie's

I think many of us have decided to step outside our fashion comfort zones once we started our blogs and subsequently started reading others blogs -- it's just so hard to see someone looking fabulous in a maxi dress, the way you do here, and not think "well i want to look fabulous in a maxi dress (that thing I hate) too!"

so then you go out and buy it and love it.

I recently tried the maxi dress and instantly loved it, too. I thought it would terrible on me mainly because I'm short. I decided to cave when looking for something different and comfortable for spring/summer weather, and I think I made an excellent decision. I'm really enjoying trying different silhouettes and cuts of clothing and my goal this spring has been to try new styles of clothing, pretty much. High-low hem skirts are also becoming a new wardrobe favorite of mine.

I'm kind of iffy towards maxi dresses just because my small frame will be devoured by the dress, but it looks so fun (like Lyddie said) that I want to try the trend! But the cut of your dress is quite nice, plus the fact it's from Walmart gets a +10 in the sweet deal department. :)

What a lovely magical, Grecian princess dress! ;) I need to go to Wally world to find myself one now.
Oh Ali, you never fail to crack me up! I never made the connection until reading your post, and now I feel a tad uncomfortable calling them..that..as well. Haha, but you do look like a goddess in yours! Your earrings are so pretty and match the tribal theme perfectly.
Oh, and hmmm...I never thought I'd try the whole socks+boots+shorts thing. But I ended up loving that combination :)

Hahahahahaha, I've never made this funny connection before! You look absolutely GORGEOUS in this dress! It fits you so well and the colors look so pretty against your skin and hair color.

As for me, the most DIFFERENT thing I've tried lately is to buy a figure hugging dress. I felt bold and daring when I bought it, but I haven't dared to wear it in public just yet... hehe.

When I clicked into your blog, the first thing I said in my head was "woah" because that dress is amazing, I LOVE the prints and colors and you look sooo tall. Unless you are already tall? Recently, I am beginning to love eating green tea flavored things. I used to think it would be very bitter :/

Wow I love that long dress on you, see what I did there? Didn't use the word ;) You know, I never actually thought of that before, maybe that's why I'm also reluctant ;)
It looks so amazing on you and I can't believe it's from Walmart!! :D
