In the Monochrome Zone

Fancy Feet
Fancy Feet

______Has it... already... been a week?

______(waits for a response)
______(a tumbleweed flies by in the distance)
______(another tumbleweed flies by, this one so close it strikes my face, thus blinding me and sending me to the ground) hey now watch wheERE YOU'RE ROLLING YOU LITTLE PIECE OF SCRITCHY-SCRATCHY TURD

______...Ahem

______Sorry, lost my cool (blog readers: "Can't lose what you never had, Ali!"). Hey now, you big beef jerkies. Slather a little less sass into your responses, will ya? Actually, no. Never stop. Keep on being the sassy pieces of sassafrass that you all are. That's how I like you--it keeps me thick skinned.

______Moving on.

______So this week, I was finally able to print my Lithography plate with the help of one of the art grad students; there's a part of the process where the printing plate must be sponged with water and rolled up with ink repeatedly without allowing any dastardly dry spots to appear; plus, our Litho press is much more formidable and hefty than a regular press and requires upper body muscles which I, the noodle-armed queen, lack. The process is do-able with one person, but much more feasible with two!

______Plus, he and I made a new Litho song. It went a little like, "Ne-ne-ne-ne-ne...ne-ne-ne-ne-ne... ne NE NE!"

______This is how I make friends.

______Even after that, I had enough time to stop by the Art Department Faculty biennial art show's opening. I mingled around with faculty members and grad students for a hearty hour, all while munching on tiny gouda cubes and thinly sliced apples... which was astounding considering how haphazard carrying on a conversation with human beings can be for me. Social is teh hard. How does interact I?

______...and here is me alongside my older brother, Zach. While home, he decided that he wanted to tag along with mother dearest and I as we snapped these photos. Minutes after we began shooting, he wandered off, soon returning with a container of sushi rolls and a fountain drink nestled in his arms. He has the ability to find food in the strangest places, probably because he is actually Bear Grylls.

______If you could be a famous TV superstar, who would it be? For me, it's a tie between Paula Deen and Ellen DeGeneres. Do I want butter coursing through my veins, or great hair and a damn decent perspective on life? Maybe both.

Why isn't there any sushi in the pictures, I'm disappoint :(
Love the looky. Especially the rad shoes and fancy shmancy dress.
Social interactions always confused me. That's what I get, for not going to kindergarten :D

Love the oxfords, the necklace and most of all the witty banter ( you know, that you had with yourself!)

They great part about art school (in my case it was theatre school) is everyone is just as quirky as you are … so those awkward social moments you normally shy away from? Much easier to jump into.

You and your brother are very cute together--- love it when siblings get along!

Haha, oh how you make me laugh! And beautiful outfit! That dress is really pretty and it looks great with that jacket. You and your brother are so cute :) Love the funny faces.

That dress is gorgeous, and your shoes are perfect! And I can totally relate to lacking upper body strength. I delegate all muscle-requiring tasks to Angel. I'm sure he appreciates that very much.

Oh, so pretty! As always, big fan of the shoes!

The photos with you and your brother are great! :D

Scary how much your brother looks like one guy I dated:) Isn't it so strange when you find people who look exactly like someone you know and you know they cannot possibly be that person but you persist in staring (that happened to me today, I saw a men that resembles a relative of mine, and being fully aware that relative is in another country and is obviously not that person I couldn't stop staring)

I'm happy you managed to print those gorgeous works of art...lovely outfit! Your outfits are always so special!

That is such a cute dress, and I love a good monochromatic look.

Social interactions are hard, but when you are with people who are passionate about the same things you are, it's gets much easier.

How does interact I? Don't know, I. I is have problem same!
Haha, ah man, yes, I so relate. Also, love that you had an imaginary conversation with all of us sassafrasses at the start ;)
Your print dress is SOOO right up my alley! I wants it *_* Love the monochrome palette you're rocking. Lately I feel as if most of my day-to-day outfits have been darker.

Oh my gosh. I learned about lithopgraphy or whatever that is in my History of Photography class. It was the most ridiculously complicated thing ever and I don't even know if its the same thing you are talking about. I should have paid more attention in that class.

Anyway, your brother is adorable. So adorable it isn't fair. Why did you guys take all the adorable genes?

Excited to find your blog! I am in love with your necklace and shoes! Love the pictures with your brother. I have no idea which superstar I would want to be. I need to ponder that. . .

Hi Ali, that jacket is the epitome of chicness, the dress is very elegant, very nice mix. Your hair looks so pretty as always. The printing process sounds quite complex, hope it was successful in the end. Thats such a great shot of yourself and your brother, at least he took a somewhat interest on your photo shoot! And for brothers thats a major plus, believe me, I know. Thanks for your wonderful words, Great wishes for the weekend.

I have always loved your blonde curls. Always... They seem to have highlights of their own. You're too funny, Ali. I found myself highlighting words from your post and pasting onto Google. Why isn't there sushi in the photo. Both you and your brother should contemplate posing with the sushi.

A very funny (funny ha ha, not funny weird) post. When in an awkward social atmosphere, pretend to be Zelda with magical powers and all will be fine!! Love your hair. I just might even adore, revere, and extol it.

Hahaha that Litho song is wonderful, that's a pretty cool way to make friends :D And I love your studded jacket+skater dress, such a great combo!

Hmmm being Ellen DeGeneres would be pretty cool but I might also want to be Rachel Ray. Or just anyone who can cook well hahah!

HAHA Ali, I think your blog is the one I most enjoy reading. Every sentence just makes me giggle. Also, I know you explained lithogrophy but I still have no idea what that means, haha! From the pieces I've seen it looks pretty interesting though. There are so many different ways to make art!
That photo of you and your brother cracks me up. Somehow when siblings get in front of the camera we can't help but make funny faces, yes? My sisters and I are the silly face queens.
You look beautiful as usual, Ali! I adore that black jacket, it has such great little details!

I love the monochrome look and this post had me literally laughing out loud as usual. Noodle armed queen was probably my fave of the day. Also, finding food anywhere is a talent your brother and I both seem to share hhaha!
Happy Monday!

Haha love that your brother jumped in a couple shots! Too funny. Finding food anywhere is a good skill to have. Sometimes I think if it weren't for me my Hubby would just drink pop and not eat. Hahaha.
Love those awesome shoes by the way!!
