Freedom Flowers

Flower5Flower1

______Sometimes, I am rather impressed by modern medicine.

______I am impressed by how downing two button-sized tablets can make a throbbing headache fizzle down to nothing in half an hour, and how even tinier white tablets can nearly obliterate the symptoms that we females encounter on a monthly basis.

______Taking medicine when I was little was an awful process that my mother and I both loathed to endure.  The only way my mom could get me to drink that awful stomach-soothing pink liquid would be by pouring it in a small cup, dousing it in chocolate syrup, and plopping an M&M in it.  I would still regard it contemptuously, as if a nasty wasp that would sting my insides was hidden beneath all that sugar, but choked it down nonetheless.  For the chocolate syrup and M&M, young Ali argued in her head.  And nothing more.

Flower2FlowerFlower8Flower6Flower4

______Even today, I find it difficult to immediately turn to medicine when some part of my body is pleading to be subdued, and I only use it when it's absolutely necessary, or if I might die, or if not taking it would cause all of Australia to crack like an egg and be sucked into the earth's core.

______Something to that degree, you know.  Wouldn't want to have a hoard of Australians tucked in kangaroo pouches hopping fiercely toward me, one hand equipped with a deadly lizard, the other a swirling lasso.

______(I hope I didn't offend any Australians.  If it makes you feel any better, I live in Alabama, and you can ridicule how everyone here is a redneck and drives tractors everywhere.  Because that's basically the case.  And well, not to brag, but my John Deere is bedazzled with plastic jewels and decapitated Barbie heads.  It's primary uses are for Walmart errands and hunting squirrels for dinner.)

______Anyway.

FlowerE

______I just wish I could step into my backyard, pluck a funny-looking plant from the ground, shove it down my throat, and boom--headache gone, fatigue banished, innards soothed...  I'm all for natural junk.  The closer to earth, the better.  But hey, maybe that's why I like wearing a crown of flowers upon my head?

Flower3

______I hope you guys have an excellent Fourth!  Be sure to scare the shit out of your neighbors by hurdling fireworks toward their houses.

Ohh i love long loved this yellow dress of yours, and the paring with these autumnal shades works quite well.

I can relate to how you feel about not wanting to take pills for every little ache and pain. I've been known to suffer all day with a headache, just telling myself it will subside as soon as I *rest a little *drink some water *drink some coffee *eat some chocolate
But usually in the end advil wins.

When it comes to the lady problems though, life is too short to suffer with cramps 5 days a month. I take the advil.

i am there with you on trying not to take pill for the tiniest of aches. i rarely ever take mechince, unless of a much needed cause, and i'm always saying "i'll just drink a bunch of water and i'll be fine". and usually that works!

i love your flower crown here! i also love the shape of your dress, they go perfectly.

I hate medicine too and only use it when necessary. I'm a hippie at heart always. I love your yellow and red today! Happy fourth!

Phahaha! I heard Alabama was nothing but douchebags with tractors :D Stereotypes are a pain in the ass :D sometime true though.
Well, my father is a doctor and mom is a nurse, so me and sis were trained addicts from childhood :D
I take pills for whatever the reason and really don't care about the side effects :D Very dumb..
I would love to be a part of some aboriginal tribe and eat roots when having a headache, but right now, the pill is my solution :D

Darn, this yellow and red combo is so sleek! Loving the boots *_*

Oh man, you would looooove knowing my friend Saffy. I call her my little witch doctor because she knows all this random health stuff concerning herbs, crystals, etc. Haha, she's usually right on the mark too!
I always avoid taking medicine if I don't have to. I hate it as well! Besides, so many awful side effects can be caused by long term use. My dad's a health nut, believe me, I've heard it all -_- lol
Anyway, enough health chat. YOU LOOK DROP DEAD GORGEOUS MISS ALI!!!! I knew this upcoming post would be magical after I saw your fb photo ;)
Love the dreamy floral crown and how perfectly you match colors. Its just so...so...pretty! *_*
And can you imagine being roommates? :D It'd be amazing and we'd have the cleanest, prettiest apartment ever. Haha, we could use your art for wall decorations, have flower crowns hanging around the room, and some serious killer wardrobes. What size in shoes are you anyhow? ;)
I don't know where we'll keep the tractor though...

Hi Ali, I always enjoy reading your comments, thanks for them. I actually used to fond of taking meds when I was young, especially the strawberry flavoured syrups, lol. Now, not so much and try to avoid it as much as possible. You look absolutely beautiful, love the floral crown, you are a princess in this stunning ensemble, the colour of the dress is so complimentary. Happy 4th of July. Do you stay in a farming region?

This has got to be the bestest blog post I have read in like forever. I'm so sorry you had such a traumatic childhood experience with the chocolate laden pinkish awful tasting pink sludge that your dear mother bribed you with. But that's what dear loving mothers do! This sludge was going to cure you or kill you. And you ain't dead, soooooooo. LOL
Well I'm off to, how did you phrase that? " scare the shit out of the neighbors by throwing firecrackers in their yard".
Later my pretty!!!!

Haha! Your last statement rang all too true as my husband and I took a walk around our neighborhood tonight (The Fourth) and I about jumped out of my skin every time someone lit a rocket. Yikes.
I'm the same way with medicine. I'll endure headaches and cramps as much as I can before I'll even allow myself a tylenol or anything, I just hate taking medicine. My mom would get me to drink the pink stuff by adding it to sprite! Haha, I should have tried the chocolate!

You are beautiful by the way, :) In case you didn't know :) This yellow color is just so becoming on you and I love yellow and red together!! The flower crown is perfect. I want one, I need one. Eee! I keep trying to make my own and it just looks like I have a flower pot on my head. Sigh, someday :)

What a stunning combination with the red and yellow. I must admit, I am not a fan of taking a tablet for headaches. often I just endure unless it's entirely unbearable.

Wishing you a beautiful weekend. :)/Madison

LOL I totally love this. I am am the same way with medicine- won't take it unless it is absolutely necessary, and even then I usually half the dosage (unless it's antibiotics- obviously) haha. LOVE this floral crown, Ali! The colors are brilliant and I love all the little pops of warm color in your outfit! So fun and bold and magical <3. Hope your July 4th was lovely!

You look so beautiful in these photos, and the floral crown is amazing! Loving the dress, too.

I take medicine too much, and I sometimes don't take it because I want it to go away by natural means. But usually Advil wins out in the end.

Red, white and yellow! I like it! That floral crown is gorgeous and you wear it so perfectly :) And I'm in love with your little booties!
I didn't know you lived in Alabama?! My Dad works/half lives out there. What part do you live in?
Oh and you sound like my Hubby with the medicine thing :) I swear he won't take it unless he's dying. Me, I'd rather endure a couple seconds of nastiness and feel much better!

I don't get on the computer for a day (accomplishment right there haha!) and of course that's the day you stun the world with your gorgeous ensemble (; I'm totally loving the perfect color combo--the warm hues are gorgeous and that flower crown is a work of art! And the contrast of the red necklace against the yellow dress is just genius!

Hehe, I used to dread taking pills too--I couldn't do it till 3rd grade! And they had to be itsy baby pills too. I do the same thing--I still don't want to take pills unless I'm in excruciating pain. It is pretty cool what science can do, huh?

Hope you had a beautiful fourth, lovely Ali!

ALI! This might just possibly be my favorite outfit from you yet. You look gorgeous! You remind me of a Hawaiian, tropical princess. These colors really suit you, that dress looks amazing on you and the flowers upon your head are gorgeous. I want a homemade flower crown! Oh and your hair looks stunning! Overall, you just look like you stepped out of the pages of Vogue. GORGEOUS.

My mom is just like you. She hates medicine's and anytime I have a headache she would prefer I ride out the pain then swallow some pills. I have the worlds biggest tonsils, so there are very few pills I can take anyways. It even takes some weird head adjustments and gulps of water to get advil down. I think my mom is secretly happy about this.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY btw:) Hoping you have a magical day and indulge yourself in all of your favorite things!

Sending love and birthday wishes your way!!

Maybe nowadays medicine is really impressive, but still we have no truly effective ways to treat cancer or AIDS. This is really sad, because head ache can be endured and if u got a cold some herbs can help you, but still there are such diseases which can't be eliminate by swallow a pill. Though in essence, I agree with you, the closer to earth, the better:) beautifully said, dear Ali:) I also got to say that you look wonderful in this lovely flower crown! Shots are really beautiful and eyecatching!

I am all about my advil during that special time, for real. It's like magic! Though I try not to pop one every single time I get a headache. If I do I only take half doses and they work fine. I definitely understand the wishing everything was more natural and whatnot, but I figure my liver functions so pain killers once in a while won't hurt me.

Annyyyway, I love this mix of red and yellow. This dress looks awesome on you! The floral crown is such a pretty accessory too.

Hahaha I pretty much died at the part about the people driving tractors everywhere. I live in a pretty rural town, surrounded by farms. And tractors.

I also really hate taking medicine. I mean, it helps a lot, but swallowing pills is pretty awful. Even tiny ones. I just don't like it.

And you look stunning!! That flower crown is absolutely beautiful Ali! And your hair is soo shiny! Your necklace is also gorgeous and I love how it and your shoes pop against that pretty yellow dress!

This colour combination is stunning as is the flower crown. I've said so many times
I want to get a flower crown myself. I can totally relate to the earlier days of medicine with m and ms and chocolate! Actually I'd probably do something like it now still... Glad to know you would save Australia!!' Yay I always knew I could rely on you Ali. That's was very entertaining and sweet!

Ooh, I love the colors here! That yellow dress is to die for, especially the flattering shape. Also, that floral crown. Beautiful.

I see my fair share of John Deere tractors going to school in Illinois. I think I'd like them all a lot more if they were all bedazzled and decorated with decapitated Barbie heads ;)

Ali Ali Ali! Your floral crown is gorgeous, love how you wore it with the yellow dress, the color scheme is so pretty. And ooo those shoes, so bright and awesome!

hahaha I have a hard time eating medicine too. My mom used to make me drink this weird Chinese herbal black soup that was very bitter to make me grow taller. (Totally didn't work) Anyway, super gross but at least I won't need to drink it anymore :)

Maiken said...

I understand what you're saying about drugs and pills and other stuff like that. I'm like that too. I only take something when I can't avoid it (I mean, really CAN'T). otherwise I drink some natural tea (camomile or peppermint for example) with honey and it works pretty much always ;)
anyway, your dress! you know, I'm wearing pretty much the same thing right now but mine is pink. and I'm loving your bright combo of red and yellow. very summery :)

You look absolutely incredible in this yellow dress- and I love the flower crown, too! I have to say that I agree with you on the medicine issue... I've had migraines for as long as I can remember, and I'm a firm believer that breathing techniques and yoga can help reduce the stress building up in my forehead instead of swallowing a pill for it! Yoga has really helped me to relax and reduce my headaches this year, so I think it's been working!
